Learn About Red Hat Enterprise IPA at the RSA Conference

For the last few years, Red Hat has been a regular fixture at the RSA Conference, and this year will be no different. We will be showing the recently open sourced Certificate System Dogtag project and we’ll be launching the beta program for Red Hat Enterprise IPA. Red Hat Enterprise IPA is a new product, scheduled for release mid-year, that is based on the open source freeIPA, centralized Identity, Policy and Audit project. At the Red Hat booth at RSA, we will have a demo showing the high-level features of Red Hat Enterprise IPA, so if you are interested in participating in the beta program please visit us at the show, or sign up for more information about the beta.

Identity and access management is important for reasons of efficiency, risk reduction and compliance. Existing solutions are either no longer compliant (NIS), expensive or not that easy to use (do-it-yourself LDAP and perhaps Kerberos). Red Hat’s acquisition of Netscape’s Directory Server and Certificate System was just the start of our identity and access management strategy.

The Red Hat Healthcare Team Returns From HIMSS08

The Red Hat healthcare team is back from a tremendously busy HIMSS08. Hundreds of customers stopped by our booth, many of whom were surprised to see us at HIMSS. We had a lot of positive feedback from our customers when we told them about our focus on healthcare, the tremendous adoption by ISVs and the growing momentum behind open source. One technology that generated a particular amount of interest was our MetaMatrix Enterprise Data Services Platform, which can present a single, real-time, read/write view of different data sources. Providers are looking to MetaMatrix to help address challenges around unifying scattered, distributed databases with different data models.

JBoss World is Back, and Bigger Than Ever

It’s been a while since JBoss World was last held in the U.S. in June 2006 in Las Vegas, but community, customer and partner interest for JBoss technology and the JBoss World event continues to grow. In fact, JBoss World Orlando is the biggest JBoss World yet, with close to 800 attendees!

While over 32 percent of attendees identify themselves as developers or engineers, the other cool statistic is that nearly 38 percent of all attendees hold CxO, VP, Director or Architect roles. This diversity will provide a great opportunity for the JBoss.org community and JBoss Enterprise Middleware customers to rub elbows and exchange ideas on how to get the most value from JBoss technologies. It’s clear that JBoss Enterprise Middleware has the attention of IT decision makers more than ever before. Why? Customers are finding that open source middleware delivers greater value than alternatives. They are deploying more and more mission-critical applications and services, and they are expanding their open source middleware reference architectures beyond the application server.
